How Does Islam View ‘Harmless’ Lies?

 Many small lies disguise themselves as protection. 

We tell ourselves they prevent embarrassment. Avoid conflict. Smooth tension. 

Islam, however, views repeated dishonesty as spiritually dangerous. The Prophet ﷺ described how consistent lying marks the heart over time. It becomes habit. And habits shape identity. 

During Ramadan, between sehri time today and iftar today, sincerity is heightened. Observing Ramadan fasting rules time demands consistency between intention and action. That consistency trains truthfulness. 

When children lie about minor things, the issue is not the scale of the lie. It is the pattern it may create.
